[He can only imagine what might have happened if someone like Sombra had found it, instead. Likely Jack would never even know it was on board the station, and he'd never see the picture again until the hacker needed something from him.]
I don't want to think about how it got here, but I'm glad to have it.
( their new home, people coming and going, and now items. either it's related to how they get here, them being closer to leaving, or just something going wrong )
I'm not sure it's worth an answer.
( not for a photograph, though eventually she would like a more detailed answer. if anyone can still give them one )
[Once, he’d wanted all the answers he could possibly get his hands on. Now, over a year since he’s seen home, with a spaceship and a planet and now a whole station between him and Earth, he’s willing to let a few things slide. The Ingress works in mysterious ways, after all.
There are things here that he should try to enjoy, namely the woman sitting at the table with him. He already thinks far too much about how they’re likely not going to remember any of this if they manage to return home. Jack needs to make the most of it while he can.
The thought has him glancing around their new quarters, only just starting to take on a few homey touches, thanks to Ana of course.]
Maybe we should hang it up. [Maybe not. Jack revises that thought almost as quickly as he has it.] Or keep it in the bedroom.
( keep it safe. she's not too sure where, not while his visor-s still bugged, but it's a nice idea )
We'll find somewhere for it. I like having it around again.
( even if there were painful memories with it there were also plenty of good ones, happiness from that time and the exact moment of that photograph. those were nice things to keep, and things that wouldn't hurt to think more of. happiness )
Though if this is here I wonder what else might be.
[Until they decide on a place for it. Find a frame, maybe. It always seemed a little silly to carry around a hard copy of something in a world that relies so heavily on digital media, but there’s something nice about being able to hold it. Have it physically.
Then Ana wonders out loud and Jack is again reminded of how lucky he was that Shepard picked it up and knew who it belonged to. If items are showing up randomly across the ship, it’s entirely likely that things won’t be found by their rightful owners, and might not be returned.]
[Jack can't argue with that--depending on what may or may not have shown up, letting things remain unclaimed could be dangerous. The average member of the crew might not recognize something that belongs to Ana, but Talon has a better chance of it. If it's something valuable, like Ana's biotic tech, then Jack isn't exactly interested in letting them get their hands on it.
Suffice to say, he doesn't disagree, and gives a sharp nod in response.]
Check the Ingress Memorial first. Then we can fan out. Look for anything of yours that might have come through.
( she'd just gotten home and though the picture had gotten her mind thinking of the options she doesn't want to go out yet. give it time, let it get quieter, where fewer people would see her specifically looking )

[Jack sounds fond, even though the picture should be more painful than anything. If he focuses on himself and Ana, it gets a little easier.]
Sort of lucked out that she knew who it belongs to.

( or them. there were a few others that would recognise those in the photograph. some that wouldn't give the photo to them, too )
It's nice to see it again.

Something of yours, maybe?

( and everyone else. why this, why these specific items? and how )
We might have to do another sweep. If things are appearing then something's causing it.

If we're lucky there'll be a frame there.

[Jack is a bit impatient, but he won't begrudge Ana if she needs a moment. As long as they get it done.]
I'm sure I can rig something up.
