( there's a small little grumble at first. the rush of cold air as he moves, the shifting of the bed. she woke easily, from nights of being on edge and always keeping one eye open )
Where are you going?
( the words are quiet, a hand reaching out to him. don't go. there's no need to get up yet )
[It's a lie, because Jack was sort of hoping he wouldn't have woken her up, but now that she is awake, he's not going to disappear on her. She reaches out to him and he squeezes her hand briefly before he does stand. There are worse things than having to do what he says he's going to do, especially in this case.
So he uses the bathroom, as promised, then returns to bed, sliding in as gently as he can and wrapping his arms around her on his way under the covers.]
[He adjusts accordingly, loosening his embrace so that she can turn, settling back into the pillows once she's comfortable. Jack can't help but smile a little as he nudges closer.]
( the farm had been quiet too but there there'd always been some background noise. here the noises are different, and far from what she'd gotten used to in her younger years )
You should sleep some more.
( ana knows his habits, and his struggles with sleep. she knows that he tries, but there's only so much sleep that he does get )
( even if all they did was lay there for a little while in quiet chatter. it was using less energy than being up, and who could blame them for spending an extra hour in bed. there was little else for them to do, and they had definitely earned it )
I don't know if I don't like it. ( no she definitely doesn't ) But I'm not used to it. It's been a long time since I was able to do this.
[Jack shifts onto his side, propping himself up on his elbow, if only to watch her a little better. Even if she wants to roll over and go back to sleep, he'd be content to stay exactly like this, just looking.
But it seems that they're both up--awake, however, doesn't mean they have to leave bed.]
I wish it were under better circumstances.
[He says it knowing full well that none of this would be happening at home, but anything is better circumstances than being lost in space.]
( there's a slight chuckle, though she's not really laughing )
I have plenty of time to rest.
( she'll rest when she's dead. there may be things here that she's enjoying, things that wouldn't be happening at home, and though ana is content to enjoy them she couldn't simply give up. she's fought for too long, and she wouldn't know how to stop. they don't have their mission here but there are at least things to occupy their time with, and a fight to get back to )
But-- ( since there was no fight here-- ) --finding alternate activities to occupy my time may not hurt.
[You know, the ones that are still in the greenery and technically his responsibility. Jack, however, doesn't seem to be in a hurry to go anywhere, stretching a little then shifting to put some of his weight on her, sort of jokingly pinning her down--though of course she'd be able to shove him off if she chose to.]
( she pretends to struggle under his weight as if she can't move. they both know it's fake, but the alternate activity is one that ana is pretty happy to go with.
after a few seconds, anyway )
I suppose we should see those bees. Make sure they're taken care of.

I didn't mean to wake you.

( her hand slips up to rest on his arm, a few seconds before she turns her head towards him )
Though I'm not opposed to being awake.
* not if it means spending some quiet, private moments with him. in peace )

[Jack says that with a wry smile. A little peace and quiet is nice, sure, but he knows neither of them can stand it for long.]
I can try. Not sure it'll work.
[There's no need to hide his insomnia from her, not anymore.]

Staying here with me is an alternate activity.

I think the bees can be patient.

And what do you suggest?

[He says that with a smirk.]
I'm not boring you, am I?
no subject
( she chuckles. they've known each other so long. she didn't think she'd be getting bored now )
I think we can stay here.
